What We Do

What We Do

Digital Banking

and FinTech Consulting.

We’ve worked on everything from simple web and mobile apps to complex processing systems for a handful of banks and startups over the years. We understand how critical it is for you to get to market with a system that enables you to validate your value proposition while leaving room for rapid change or new market opportunities.

We can help you quickly get a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) up and running so you can leave those long, drawn-out PowerPoint meetings and actually get something off the ground.

Cloud Infrastructure

Cloud computing has empowered smaller organizations to build enterprise systems with less. Gone are the days of “big-iron” payment processors and multi-million dollar implementations. With providers such as AWS, a scrappy start-up or community bank can quickly launch high-volume systems in a secure and compliant manner.

PCI Consulting

PCI DSS is a requirement if you plan to store card numbers. It’s also a really good framework to use to whip your organization into shape. If you hire us to build your system, PCI DSS is built into the design and execution process. If you need some help to preparing for an assesment or if you prefer a one-stop solution including a QSA, we can help.

Startup Consulting

The Dinky team collectively has over 30 years of startup experience across industries such as banking, healthcare, and information security. We understand what it’s like to scramble to market with unreasonable amounts of pressure. We can help bring clarity to your ideas and get you off of PowerPoint and into the market. Our approach is very simple and based on implementation over perfection. It’s all theory until your product is live and in production. We can get you there.

Payment Gateway

Background

The client hired a few consultants to build a specialized payment gateway designed to support real-time payments between Asia-based consumers and merchants. The problem? The small group of consultants bit off more than they could chew and basically oversold their capabilities. A few hundred thousands dollars in and the client was on the verge of scrapping the entire project.... until we came along.

How We Helped

We knew going into the project the client had trust issues. Wouldn't you after being screwed out of a few hundred thousand dollars? So we offered to do a small proof of concept on the house -- our way of building trust by delivering on something small. After we met this objective we quickly ramped up and built a core product and development team for the client and spent the next 12 months building out a full blown payment gateway complete with merchant management, risk management, transaction processing, and settlement capabilities.

Payday Lender

Background

The client was basically spending thousands of dollars per month on data processing services to support their underwriting operation. They had three systems in place to help analyze consumer banking history during the loan application review process. The problem? Even with three systems in place the client was still spending hundreds of hours per month manually reviewing data because the three systems were neither 100% accurate or lacked useful insights.

How We Helped

We knew it would not be possible to replace the existing systems. Each system brought some value to the client in some small way. Plus the existing operation was highly dependent on specific data points provided by each system. Instead of building a replacement solution we delivered a middleware application that would take in data from each existing system and pick up where each system fell short to provide useful insights such as income prediction, behavior tracking, and red flags.

Card Program Manager

Background

The client wrestled with their existing processor for over a year. They struggled to get their product into the market and didn't realize they didn't need more than half of what their processor sold them on. The classic overselling of a solution in hopes of finding a problem at the end of the rainbow. The net result was thousands of dollars wasted and no live product.

How We Helped

We first took the time to understand the total picture. What a great idea! We try to be innovative around here. Based on this understanding we determined that most of the functionality could be built and managed in-house. We simply pointed them in the right direction and provided supporting development services instead of taking on the entire project. They had a talented team in place -- we just helped them where needed. This approach definitely meant less money for us but that's okay. Doing the right thing is always the right thing.

Community Bank

Background

This community bank was already established in the Fintech space in terms of sponsorship and treasury management services. The bank struggled to win new business because it lacked modern infrastructure to support the needs of large Fintechs.

How We Helped

The first order of business for this client was to help fine-tune the scope of what the platform should look like in the short-term while keeping future growth in mind. The second order of business was to assemble a dedicated team capable of executing on technical requirements while keeping compliance and regulation at the center of design. This engagement was based on a Build, Operate, Transfer model or “BOT” - which is a fancy way of saying we structured the relationship in anticipation of the client no longer needing us.

About Us

We founded Dinky Labs in 2015 to help FinTech Startups off the ground. Over the years we developed a knack for cutting through the clutter to get to products launched. We focus on what's most important and push hard to get you live.
